Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has confirmed that the Ligue 1 titleholders will be active in the upcoming summer transfer window, amidst speculation linking them to Liverpool standout Luis Diaz.
Reports last season hinted at the possibility of the Colombian forward making a surprising switch to Paris. Diaz, whose contract with Liverpool extends until 2027, is one of the players rumored to be departing Anfield amidst a summer of changes.
Following Kylian Mbappe’s announcement of his departure, PSG is in search of a left-sided forward. Mbappe, who bid farewell to the club after their Coupe de France final victory over Lyon, is anticipated to join Real Madrid.
Although Bradley Barcola filled in for Mbappe toward the end of the season, PSG is expected to recruit another winger. Following the 2-1 victory against Lyon, Enrique discussed his strategy for replacing Mbappe in the upcoming season.
“I’ve had the privilege of coaching Kylian this season. It’s been a challenging time for him after seven years at the club and all he’s accomplished. Saying goodbye is never easy,” Enrique expressed. “Mbappe cannot be directly replaced, but we will address his absence collectively, through the team, and possibly with four, five, or even six new signings. The void left by Kylian will be filled by the combined effort of the team, our supporters, and our determination to conquer everything in the seasons ahead.”
Diaz recently addressed any uncertainty surrounding his future, stating, “I’ve experienced significant growth. From the beginning of my career until now, I feel that each passing day and year, and every experience with different teams, including joining this prestigious club, Liverpool, has been a learning curve.”
“You continuously evolve as a professional, as a person, as a good teammate, and as a positive influence. I’m immensely content to be here. I firmly believe the club is on the cusp of tremendous success, personally, I will always strive to give my best, to give 100%, and to shine on the field, which is my ultimate goal. I’m forever grateful for every opportunity,” Diaz emphasized.
